Sodium laureth sulfate, an accepted contraction ofsodium lauryl ether sulfate, is an anionic detergentand surfactant found in many personal care products. SLES is an inexpensive and very effective foamingagent. SLES, sodium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laurylsulfate, and sodium pareth sulfate are surfactants thatare used in many cosmetic products for their cleaning and emulsifyingproperties. They behave similarly to soap. It is derived from palm kernel oilor coconut oil.
